Baran is a city in Baran district of the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is a municipality and the district headquarters of Baran district, famous for its 11th century Bhand Deva Temple on banks of Ramgarh crater. It is 339 km from the state capital Jaipur near Kota city.

1 Shergarh Fort

Shergarh Fort is located beside the Parbvan river in the Atru Tehsil of Baran in Rajasthan. The place is popular for its ancient Jain and Brahmanical temples.  It is one of Baran’s popular tourist attraction. Shergarh fort got its name after its capture by Shershah of the Sur dynasty. Visitors can see an inscription from 790 AD reflecting Shergarh fort’s history while visiting this great fort.

2 Shahabad Fort

Shahabad Fort is an ancient fort situated on the hilltop in the middle of a forest area. It was constructed in 1521 by Chauhan Vanshi Dhandhel Rajput Mukutmani Dev. It is considered as the strongest and the best fort in the entire Hadoti region. 

The fort is bounded by the valley of Kundakoh and has 18 cannons. A topkhana or artillery, a barudkhana and some temples are also located in the premises of the fort.
